1. Commander's Intent

Mattis' central lesson: tell people the what and the why, then get out of the way on the how. Teams that only receive instructions freeze the moment reality changes. Teams that understand intent adapt without asking permission.

For a client, that means you should never need to approve a tactic. You should be able to state the objective — own this market, own this service line, own the answer in AI results — and trust the execution to move without you.

2. Read, or Be Functionally Illiterate

Mattis' most quoted passage is about leaders who do not read being functionally illiterate, unequipped to command, and filling body bags with their own troops as they learn. That line is why this page exists. This syllabus is not decoration. It is the reason our judgment is not built out of last week's LinkedIn takes.

3. Doctrine as Guidance, Not Gospel
